USA Today proclaimed, “Purists, rejoice . . .” The Dallas Morning News called her, “a translator for savvy Americans”. Betty Lou Phillips, a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers and best-selling author, creates artful, intimate environments that radiate beauty, comfort and well-being.
Her work has been featured in hundreds of newspapers and dozens of magazines. She is also the award-winning author of more than a dozen books on French and Italian design, including The French Room, Inspirations from France & Italy, French Impressions, The Allure of French & Italian Décor. She has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Phillips lives in Dallas, Texas. Her three sons all married Interior designers.
In 2013, HGTV purchased the rights to the text and images of The Allure of French & Italian Décor for a period of two years. ForeWord Magazine awarded Villa Décor: Decidedly French and Italian Style top prize—Editors’ Choice Nonfiction Book of the Year in June 2003. Inspirations from France & Italy was the magazines silver medalist in 2007. The latter garnered first prize in Home Decorating / Interior Design from USA Book News.
Betty Lou’s first foray into children’s books, Emily Goes Wild, was an instant hit, winning Texas Institute of Letters prestigious Friend of the Austin Public Library Award for Best Children’s book. Soon thereafter, irresistibly cute Emily--with a monkey-mind of her own--danced her way into Neiman Marcus, FAO Schwarz and other retail locations.
